A Social Media Downloader Bot Free for Android

I finally managed to integrate Python into an Android application to enable video downloading from social media platforms.

At first, embedding Python libraries inside an Android environment felt almost impossible, but discovering the right plugins changed everything. Now there’s a fully working Android app that lets you download social media videos through a bot system.

I originally built this app for myself because I couldn’t find anything online—or on the Play Store—that allowed me to download YouTube videos directly on mobile.

The only platform not supported yet is TikTok, but I’m planning to add it in the future.

Important Disclaimer

Apps like this are not welcomed on Google Play Store due to legal concerns around downloading copyrighted content.

Even though I personally disagree with banning a tool simply because it might be used improperly, the reality is that any APK distributed outside Google’s trusted network is automatically flagged as unsafe. This can scare users because Android shows warning screens and requires them to change security settings to install the app.

Yet most people already have antivirus apps that scan and verify APKs before running them, so the risk is practically nonexistent.

SMDB works perfectly on any Android device and only asks for folder access to save downloaded files.

How to Use SMDB Mobile

1. Open any social media app.
2. Copy the video’s share link.
3. Paste the share link into the SMDB app (first field).
4. Wait for the video to be detected and choose your preferred resolution.
5. Select the destination folder (file access permission required).
6. Tap Download Selected to save the video.
